Thoughts from the Futon

yeah...so i'm terrible about keeping up with this thing

So I know that I don't post stuff on here ever, but it's okay - a new semester means a new start right? That's what I always tell myself. I love the start of the semester in college. Everyone's expectations are so high for themselves. Thoughts of "I'm going to keep up with my reading this semester" or "I'm going to study for at least an hour a day" are soon replaced with "It's only the first test, they're always easy" or "He covered that in the lecture. I guess I can skip over the next twenty or so pages." But seriously I'm doing better this semester. It doesn't matter that I'm not taking a class above a sophmore level (hey I've got to fufill my minor requirements).

Anyway, my brother introduced me to this new band, Leeland. They are billed as a rockish praise and worship band. This usually is an auto-deterant to my musical taste for the sole reason that there are fifteen thousand praise and worship bands that decide to make cds. Not that there is anything wrong with what they are doing (I'm nobody to judge their hearts, but thier music is another thing). I tend to enjoy new sounds and sadly most of them aren't new sounds. Anyway, back to the point, Leeland. This band is refreshingly good. Their single, Sound of Melodies, is quickly becoming one of my favorite songs and I'm strongly contemplating using it at our high school worship (Focus). Here are the lyrics for the song:

SOUND OF MELODIES - LEELAND

WE WHO WERE CALLED TO BE YOUR PEOPLE
STRUGGLING SINNERS AND THIEVES
WERE LIFTED UP FROM THE ASHES
AND OUT CAME THE SONG OF THE REDEEMED
THE SONG OF THE REDEEMED

CAN YOU HEAR THE SOUND OF MELODIES
OH THE SOUND OF MELODIES
RISING UP TO YOU
RISING UP TO YOU GOD

WE HAVE CAUGHT A REVELATION
THAT NOTHING CAN SEPARATE US FROM
THE LOVE WE RECEIVED THROUGH SALVATION
IT FILLS YOUR DAUGHTERS AND YOUR SONS
YOUR DAUGHTERS AND YOUR SONS

THE SOUND OF YOUR LOVE
THE SOUND OF YOUR LOVE
IS WHAT YOURE HEARING
THE SOUND OF YOUR SONS
THE SOUND OF YOUR SONS
YOUVE WON YOUR CHILDREN
THE SOUND OF YOUR LOVE
THE SOUND OF YOUR LOVE
IS WHAT YOURE HEARING
YOUR DAUGHTERS IN LOVE
YOUR DAUGHTERS IN LOVE
YOUVE WON YOUR CHILDREN

You can find them on myspace and listen to the song. I highly recommend it.

Okay, so hopefully I will be able to keep up with this better this semester.

Goodbye for now,

Dave
