type='text'>this is not the end

Hi, my name is David and I'm the biggest screw-up in the world (or at least I feel like that right now).

I had the greatest thing in life going for me, love, and I thought I needed more at one time. As of late I know that this is all I need from someone. I had it in abundance and I took it for granted. I don't do that anymore. We don't find love in many places, especially this kind of love.

I can't help but feel right now that I lost everything. I messed up...bad.

This love means more to me than anything else on earth.

I must confess to everyone out there who reads this. I am not the same that I was last semester. Last semester was a lie. I wasn't the person God called me to be, and I wasn't the person that deserves the kind of love he had. I am not that person anymore. I am in the process of trying to make my amends to God and hopefully regain the trust and love that I need.

Those of you who know my situation know that I had a great thing. I'm sorry that I blew it this time. It won't happen again. I can't help but believe that there will be an 'again'. Something that powerful can't go away. I won't let it.

I love you

I'm sorry

-David

It's Christmas time...

That's what the calendar says at least. Working in retail though I often find that the only joy people get around this time is when they make it home after fighting the madness of the mall. So this is the first Christmas in my entire life that I won't be with my parents, brothers, or any combination of the above on Christmas day (once again, thank you retail). It's kind of a different feeling. I'm 21, but still I don't know if I was ready for this day to come. I'm going to wake-up Christmas day with people to hang out with (which I'm very very thankful for), but it will still be different.

I'm thinking of staying up all night the night of the 24th and staking out for St. Nick. After all of these years I'm going to catch him. Really all I want is a ride around Ft. Worth on the sleigh. I figure this can be arranged because I live east of Ft. Worth and it's only logical for Santa to work east to west. Wow, that was an odd ramble...

Everything that is Good

I absolutely love LaDainian Tomlinson. Not only is he amazing to watch; not only did he graduate from TCU; not only did he grow up close to Waco, TX (a nostalgic place for me); he's all that is good in the NFL. I know, I know, everybody has pointed out already how when he scores a touchdown he simply hands the ball the the referee and is on his way.

That's not the only thing that impresses me about this guy. In a recent quote about his record 28 touchdowns this season he described the celebration afterward. I couldn't find the exact quote anywhere, but here's the gist of it. After the touchdown he gathered the entire offensive unit in the endzone to celebrate. This celebration wasn't anything gaudy or flamboyant either. They lifted LT over their heads and he gave each of them a congratulatory head slap. After the game when he was asked about it LT said that he called all of the people over to celebrate what they had done. I don't know if you caught that. He called them over to celebrate what they had done. Not what he had done, what they had done. This blew my mind. Most people that you come across in the NFL whine and cry because they don't receive enough touches in the game, or because they had a call go against them. They even complain because of what another teammate isn't doing. LT had the perfect opportunity to absorb every bit of spotlight that there was to absorb and he called everyone over for the party. Go LT...i love you

decisions and misdecisions

So I believe it is tradition now for me to preface every blog with..."man I'm terrible at keeping up with these things"

Now that that is out of the way we can continue.

So have you ever had to make a decision that you really didn't want to make, but you knew that it was one that needed to be made? Those decisions are no fun...at all. These are the things that you pray about, and when you get your answer you argue with God on his logic. How could doing something that sucks so bad right now be better for the future? I don't understand, which makes it hard for me to explain to people, which makes it even worse. I try and do my best to follow God's plan for my life, but there are times (many times) where I feel inadequate to carry out the call on my life. I'm going on blind faith here, but how am I suppose to know where the line is drawn between my inner feelings and God's push in the right direction? I'm just hoping I haven't completely screwed everything up (that's probably my biggest fear).

...pray, that's all I can do

yeah...so i'm terrible about keeping up with this thing

So I know that I don't post stuff on here ever, but it's okay - a new semester means a new start right? That's what I always tell myself. I love the start of the semester in college. Everyone's expectations are so high for themselves. Thoughts of "I'm going to keep up with my reading this semester" or "I'm going to study for at least an hour a day" are soon replaced with "It's only the first test, they're always easy" or "He covered that in the lecture. I guess I can skip over the next twenty or so pages." But seriously I'm doing better this semester. It doesn't matter that I'm not taking a class above a sophmore level (hey I've got to fufill my minor requirements).

Anyway, my brother introduced me to this new band, Leeland. They are billed as a rockish praise and worship band. This usually is an auto-deterant to my musical taste for the sole reason that there are fifteen thousand praise and worship bands that decide to make cds. Not that there is anything wrong with what they are doing (I'm nobody to judge their hearts, but thier music is another thing). I tend to enjoy new sounds and sadly most of them aren't new sounds. Anyway, back to the point, Leeland. This band is refreshingly good. Their single, Sound of Melodies, is quickly becoming one of my favorite songs and I'm strongly contemplating using it at our high school worship (Focus). Here are the lyrics for the song:

SOUND OF MELODIES - LEELAND

WE WHO WERE CALLED TO BE YOUR PEOPLE
STRUGGLING SINNERS AND THIEVES
WERE LIFTED UP FROM THE ASHES
AND OUT CAME THE SONG OF THE REDEEMED
THE SONG OF THE REDEEMED

CAN YOU HEAR THE SOUND OF MELODIES
OH THE SOUND OF MELODIES
RISING UP TO YOU
RISING UP TO YOU GOD

WE HAVE CAUGHT A REVELATION
THAT NOTHING CAN SEPARATE US FROM
THE LOVE WE RECEIVED THROUGH SALVATION
IT FILLS YOUR DAUGHTERS AND YOUR SONS
YOUR DAUGHTERS AND YOUR SONS

THE SOUND OF YOUR LOVE
THE SOUND OF YOUR LOVE
IS WHAT YOURE HEARING
THE SOUND OF YOUR SONS
THE SOUND OF YOUR SONS
YOUVE WON YOUR CHILDREN
THE SOUND OF YOUR LOVE
THE SOUND OF YOUR LOVE
IS WHAT YOURE HEARING
YOUR DAUGHTERS IN LOVE
YOUR DAUGHTERS IN LOVE
YOUVE WON YOUR CHILDREN

You can find them on myspace and listen to the song. I highly recommend it.

Okay, so hopefully I will be able to keep up with this better this semester.

Goodbye for now,

Easter Awakening

Happy Easter to all!! This morning was one of the best mornings I've had while at FUMC Cleburne. There wasn't an abnormal amount of kids in Sunday school, we didn't save 30 people today, but instead I enjoyed a great time with the kids this morning in Sunday school and then went to a great service after that. For those of you that aren't familiar with how FUMC Cleburne works, it falls under the traditional category on the church scale. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't think there is a problem with that. All too often people tell me that "traditional" equals boring when it comes to church services; not here though. Everything from the presentation of the alter (which I wish I had a picture of because it was amazing!) to the people in the service was great. Okay, so I'll try and describe the alter. A little background info first. For the lentin season P.G.S.(Pastor George Sutton) has been doing a series on the seven deadly sins (suprisingly without one mention of Brad Pitt or the movie Seven). There was a very simple about 8' wooden cross set up behind the alter, and each week a new sin would be added to the cross until all seven were nailed to the cross. Well upon entering the santuary this morning I notice the cross is laying down across the alter with a transparent white sheet descending from the rafters of the church (which has a really really high ceilng) imitating light shining down on the cross. It was an outstanding visual for the occasion. Even before church we had a mini youth service for Sunday school. We did a little P&W and Mauri led a great little lesson. In this time we sang the song, "Come Awake" by the David Crowder Band. I figured this song would be appropriate for the occasion, and it was amazing to feel God in the room when it was going on. I could almost feel myself outside of the person playing guitar and singing and simply worshiping in the room. I'm sure all five of you have heard this song before but I want to share the chorus with you anyway

Come awake, from sleep arise!
You were dead, become alive!
Wake up, wake up, open your eyes!
Climb from your grave into the light!
Bring us back to life!

I added the exclamation points at the end because, unless you're waking up a small child, you have to WAKE them up.

Happy Easter to All!!

don't worry...

i'm still alive. I have never personally been to an Ignite event, but from word of mouth they are quite amazing. Even better is that I have the joy of being a part of the worship band. This is, if you don't know me already, something I live for. I currently lead worship for an amazing group of kids in Cleburne, TX and wouldn't have it any other way (just for sass). I'll be playing bass for Ignite, which is actually how I started off in worship; o those many years ago, in 10th grade. If you aren't currently signed up for Ignite '06 you can sign up at the door, just a little shameless advertising. Ah...well I'm distracted...updates will follow this weekend...COME TO IGNITE!! peace!

First timer!

Ok, so I have broken into the blogging community. This, I guess, could be considered my first blog. There really isn't anything special to report right now; so I will tell you about a great discovery that happened two days ago.

Two days ago, after returning home with Chipotle burritos in hand, I cracked open a bag of torilla chips. Expecting nothing more than five whole chips and about thirteen more made up of tiny fragments of chip, I begin to pour out the deep fried flour goodness onto my plate. Much to my suprise falls out the most amazing thing ever. A chip that was, in fact, an entire tortilla. Now, some of you must be thinking - eh, big deal? - but it is a big deal. In a time when the chip has lost its integrity, and most of the time you open new bag of chips to find it only half full and mostly broken (there's a sermon in there somewhere); my respect for this chip company immediatly tripled, not to mention they were quite tasty. So if you're ever in the market for a good bag of tortilla chips, hunt down a bag of El Milagro chips. Ditch the Tostitos and go with the chips that might possibly deliver a whole deep-fried tortilla!

Granted, it is not perfectly round, but only slightly folded and still intact.
